21 day Tour Singapore Sumatra Java and Bali

Day 1              Singapore                                                                 

Arrival at Changi International Airport’s Singapore, where you will be met and greeted by our driver for your transfer to the luxurious Singapore accommodations; the brand new Andaz Hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. In the evening we invite you to a welcome reception with dinner to meet your co-travelers.

Day 2              Singapore Full Day Tour

After breakfast, we start the day at the Botanical Gardens - The National Orchid Garden boasts a sprawling display of 60,000 orchid plants. After seeing the national flower we will visit Chinatown – Be fascinated by the temples and traditional turn-of-the-century shop houses retaining the Chinese character in this enclave.

After a lunch, you will embark a Bum Boat ride through a kaleidoscope of historic river and harbor images: the ‘godown’ warehouses, the shop houses, the six bridges built by the British and the gracious building of the old waterfront set against the towering skyline of the new business district.

The day is not completed without a visit to Merlion Park – a popular spot for great views of Marina Bay and a picture-taking opportunity with the Merlion, a mythological creature that is part lion and part fish.  Last stop will be Little India - See the lively trading community and be overwhelmed by the charms of this part of old Singapore.

In the evening, we will take you to a hawker center and have dinner like Singaporeans do!

Day 3              Singapore

After breakfast at your hotel we will head over to Palate Sensation, a cooking studio. where you will be introduced to Singapore’s Food Heritage.  The instructor will welcome you and speak on the origins behind some of the popular street food. Put on an apron and become a chef, you will learn how to prepare three local dishes including a detailed explanation of the origins of the dish and the specific local ingredients used. The instructor will also explain foreign substitutes to these local ingredients so you can replicate the dishes for your friends once returned home.

Of course, you will sit and enjoy the dishes prepared. The afternoon and evening are at leisure, perhaps go shopping in on the famous Orchid Road or at Marina Bay. Your tour manager will

Day 4              Medan – Sumatra

After breakfast enjoy the morning at leisure until you will be picked up from the hotel for your departure transfer to Changi airport where you will fly to Medan the capital of Sumatra. Your Travel Manager will arrange your check-in and will assist with immigration forms and questions you may have. A snack is served on board the short flight. Upon arrival at Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, you will be met by our friendly English speaking guide and private chauffeur in the pick-up point, who will escort you directly to the JW Marriott hotel. Day 5              Bukit Lawang, Sumatra

After a good night sleep, an early rise and breakfast we leave for a highlight visit to Bukit Lawang. Bukit Lawang at Gunung Leuser National Park is one of Indonesia's oldest National Parks established in 1980. It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site home to numerous bird, plant and mammal species, most famously the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii), which can be seen in the jungle in Bukit Lawang as well as at the daily feedings. On our way, we will make stops at rubber and palm oil plantations.

Upon arrival in Bukit Lawang you will enjoy lunch before we venture out to watch the endangered Orangutans swinging through the jungle canopy a few feet above your head. In the middle of the rainforest A ranger will point out the unique flora and fauna of one of planet’s oldest eco systems. Dinner will be enjoyed on the way back to Medan.

Day 6              Medan and Jakarta (Java)

After breakfast, our guide will be at the hotel, ready to explore Medan. First you will visit the Grand Mosque. The Medan Grand Mosque is an architectural heritage of Deli Sultanate. The mosque is still utilized by the local community for daily prayers. Like the Maimoon Palace, which you also will visit, the building materials of the mosque were taken from Italy. The Grand Mosque which was built in 1906 by Sultan Makmun Al-Rasyid is the most beautiful and magnificence mosques in North Sumatera. After touring the colonial area, it is time to drive to the airport for your flight to Jakarta.

Upon arrival at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, you will be met and greeted by our guide who will assist you to the luxury touring bus and drive to your hotel. Your Travel Manager will assist you with check-in for flights and at the hotel. You will be staying at The Dharmawangsa, a 5-star luxury boutique hotel. Perhaps have our travel concierge already book you a spa treatment at this wonderful hotel? In the evening, you will enjoy a traditional ‘Rijsttafel dinner’.

Day 7              Jakarta City Tour

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Our English-speaking guide and Tour Manager will escort you on full day Jakarta City tour. First you will visit The National Museum, located on the west side of Merdeka Square. Built in 1862, it is the most well-known museum in Indonesia and one of the most acclaimed in South East Asia. The museum has an enormous collection of cultural objects of the various ethnic groups, including musical instruments, model houses and so on – and numerous fine bronzes from the Hindu period, as well as a superb display of Chinese ceramics dating back to the Han dynasty (300 BC to 220 AD).

We also will visit The National Monument, the historical old town and Sunda Kelapa the traditional harbor with fish market. Lunch will be enjoyed near the old town. Late afternoon and evening are at leisure. Our travel manager can assist you with dining reservations or tickets for the Wayang Orang performance at the Bharata Theatre.

Day 8              Bogor Botanical Garden and Bandung

After breakfast, you will leave Jakarta and drive to Bogor where you will visit Bogor Botanical Garden and plant conservation center. Together with an expert guide you’ll explore these beautifully kept gardens where also the summer palace of the president is located. Famous for the Rafflesia, blooming of this flower is a rare event, occurring about once every three years at Bogor and a handful of other botanical gardens around the world.

A drive through tea plantations via Cipanas and the famous Punchak Pass with a lunch along the way, will bring you to Bangor, ‘Paris of the East’. Here you stay at the spectacular Padma Hotel.

Day 9              Bandung

After breakfast, another exciting day is waiting for you! Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as the first stop is the Tangkuban Perahu an active volcano. Approximately an hour walk through the forest will bring you to the crater of the volcano. Boil an egg before your walk continues through the forest back to the bus. After lunch, we make a short stop at Cihampelas Walk before we visit the Angklung School of Pak Udjo. Here you will learn how to play the Angklung, a traditional bamboo musical instrument from Indonesia. The evening is at leisure. Perhaps a cocktail in the Art Deco lounge of the historical Savoy Homann Hotel?

Day 10             Yogyakarta    

After breakfast, we do what the locals do, we take the train. A beautiful train ride through Central Java. Watch the rice fields, small villages and beautiful landscapes pass by from the comfort of your train. Relax while reading a book or catch up with your travel journal. Lunch boxes will be provided, in addition to lunch offering onboard or vendors at the different train stations. Upon arrival at Yogyakarta’s train station, you will be met and greeted by our butler who will assist you to the bus and drive to your hotel. You will be staying at the Boutique Luxury the Phoenix Hotel. The rest of the day and evening is at your leisure. Stroll the famous and energetic Malioboro with the stores, galleries, restaurants, flea market and food stalls.

Day 11            Yogyakarta City Tour

After breakfast, our guide will take you on a Yogyakarta city tour. You will start at Sultan Palace known as the Keraton is a large complex that was meticulously planned to reflect the Javanese cosmos. This exceptional example of traditional Javanese architecture was designed and built in stages, and completed in 1790.

We will continue the tour with visit to Taman Sari Water Castle a site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. It is located about 2 km south within the grounds of the Kraton. Built in middle of 18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place

In the afternoon explore Java’s most interesting and south-east Asia’s largest Hindu shrine, the Prambanan temple. In the evening, a traditional an-dong (horse and carriage) will bring you to the palace where you are invited for a dinner with the royal family.

Day 12            Merapi and Malang

The Morning is free at leisure. Our guide will pick up you for a jeep safari to Kaliadem, a strategic and famous spot to view the Merapi Volcano from a close distance. After lunch, we will check you in at one of our favorite boutique Hotels; The Platran Borobudur. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Dinner will be served at hotel.

Day 13     Borobudur Sunrise,  Klipoh Village Cycling Tour and Jamu Making Class

The day starts early with coffee and pastries and a short drive to the Borobudur where you will experience a delightful Sunrise at Borobudur. Here you will have the opportunity to explore this historical site in the serenity of the early morning sun before thousands of tourists arrive. As we climb the steps you will marvel the mesmerizing view of the sun rising slowly to the top of the temple!  Not many people had this rare opportunity to see the Borobudur at first ray of light. Borobudur needs to be understood before it is felt and once you feel it, it will stay with you forever! Our informative guide will most certainly explain its history to you. Return to the resort for breakfast.

This active day continues with a bicycle tour taking you through lush valleys, Javanese villages, and green rice fields. Our local tour guide will explain the history of the land, the culture, and its people throughout the tour. Towards the end of the trip, stop by a local village to refresh with a coconut juice and light traditional snacks.

In the afternoon, you learn how to make Jamu, a traditional herbal medicine made from natural ingredients, such as roots, leaves, barks, and fruits. With this in-depth workshop, you will learn the benefits of each ingredient and the secret on how to make the best blend. The evening is at leisure.

Day 14            Ubud Bali

Sleep in this morning or soak up the sun at the lavish pool. In the early afternoon, you will be transferred for your flight to Bali. Upon arrival at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport in “The Island of Gods” you will be met and greeted by our guide who will assist you to the bus and drive you to Komaneka at Bisma Hotel in Ubud. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Dinner at Seneng Kitchen

Day 15             The Other Side of Ubud

After breakfast we start the day at the Sacred Monkey Forest where you will find the long-tailed Macaques, at the Pura Dalem Agung Padantegal temple. Nearby we also visit the famous “Holy Spring" bathing temple, seen in the movie Eat, Pray and Love.  After we visit the Pura Saraswati temple with its unique and beautiful architecture. Pura Saraswati was devoted to “Dewi Saraswati” the goddess of learning, literature and the arts.

After visiting the Ubud Market, where you can shop for art at competitive prices don’t forget to bargain! Lunch will be served at The Bridges Restaurant in Ubud.

In the afternoon, you will visit Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave, used by the Brahman priest in the 11th century, perhaps earlier. Evening at leisure.

Day 16            Ubud

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel. After breakfast, the day is yours to decide on. Our travel manager can arrange a tour or you can visit the many art galleries in Ubud. Or book an Indonesian massage at the hotel, the travel concierge can secure reservations when you book this amazing tour. Or just soak up the sun at the hotel’s pool with an amazing view over the rice fields and jungle. 

Day 17            Balinese Batik and Balinese Gamelan

After breakfast, our guide and bus are waiting to take you on another exciting day. At the Arma Museum and Resort you will enjoy a workshop in the art of Balinese Batik printing and Balinese Gamelan music. Lunch will be served at the workshop. The afternoon and evening is at leisure.

Day 18    Pure Ubud and the John Hardy Gallery / Seminyak   Bali

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will await you for full day tour. First stop is at Tirta Empul that known as the “Holy Water Temple”. Next visit to Gunung Kawi Royal Monument with its impressive views over the valley. From the main entrance, descend about 300 steps to reach the Royal tombs and hermitage caves. After you drive towards Tegalalang to see one of Bali’s best rice terraces. A casual lunch will be served at Cascades Restaurant.

You can’t leave the area without a visit to John Hardy Jewelry to see the artisans and designers at work. Watch how the artists weave chains link by link with their hands, hammer metal into a richly textured surface, and solder flattened granulated discs. The skills of these artists have been handed down for generations.

In the afternoon, we arrive at our spectacular 5-star beach resort The Legian in Seminyak. Here on the Balinese shores of Seminyak Beach, home to sun, sea and serious surf, location is not everything. This prime stretch of golden sand adjacent to the island’s chicest shops and Asia’s most stylish nightlife is merely the irresistible beginning of what sets this iconic sanctuary in the sand apart from all the rest. Against a backdrop of enduring modern architecture and swaying coconut palms, stunning sunsets enhance memories made inside all 67 understated suites and The Beach House perched along the Indian Ocean. The evening is at leisure.

Day 19            Seminyak

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel. The rest of the morning and early afternoon is free at leisure; you can enjoy the facilities of the resort or walking around enjoy the hip and trendy Seminyak town. Our Tour Manager is available to assist you with restaurant reservations and visits to galleries or shops. In the late afternoon, we depart to Tanah Lot Temple where as the sun will set you most likely will make plans to return to one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Dinner is included.

Day 20            Bali -Dramatic Kecak Uluwata and Balinese Night Market at Bumbu Bali

Morning free at leisure, breakfast is included. Our guide will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon for your farewell dinner event. You will visit the Uluwatu Temple, which is one of Bali's nine key directional temples. Take in the beauty of the dramatic view from this temple complex perched on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. This will be the stage for the famous Kecak Dance performance, while the sun is setting. Approximately 50 male dancers will perform the mythical love story of Rama and Shinta. A cultural highlight with elaborate costumes, hypnotic chants and a fiery finale. After the performance, you will continue to Bumbu Bali for a farewell dinner in a Balinese village setting.

Day 21            Last Day

After breakfast, you still have a few hours to enjoy the beach or get some last-minute shopping done. Or perhaps you extended your stay on Bali or Lombok. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. Your travel manager will assist with confirmations and check-out procedures. Soon you’ll be home again with a suitcase full of memories of this unforgettable journey
